
Our project goes from September 2011 to February 2013. It concerns only apprentices over 18 years old, preparing a Brevet Professionnel exam (cooks and waiters) or a Bac Professionnel exam (cooks and waiters).
It consists of a 3-week training in Europe. Of course there is a coherence between the French exam regulations and the skills and knowledge acquired in this foreign experience.
We have identified a few fields that could be improved during the training: technical skills (cooking and service), but also other school subjects such as Law and Management, History and Geography…
Before the departure, there are extra English lessons.
The main goal of the project is to allow mobility for the apprentices and, therefore, after the training, to help them to find a job more easily. We also want to improve their self-confidence, to develop their maturity and to make them discover new techniques.
And, last but not least, the project will help them to realize the importance of European Citizenship.
Two teachers are in charge of the project (a cooking teacher and a law teacher) The English teacher also takes part in the project. The headmaster, the coordinator of the UFA and all the teachers are also involved in the project.

All the teachers are informed about the project and the dates of the trainings in the foreign countries. The apprentices who stay in France are also concerned by the project, even if it isn’t “directly”! For example, the History Teacher can work about the History and Culture of the country with the students who stay in France (even in the CAP classes)
The referent teacher also acts as an intermediary between the employers of the apprentices in France, their families and the restaurants who are our partners in the foreign countries.
Through this project, we would like to acquire a European dimension and to increase the importance of foreign languages for the students…
This action can also be the beginning of regular partnerships with European countries.
The opening up to Europe gives an International dimension to the UFA, improves its image and increases its attractive impact.
